Between memory embedded within and the status quo there is a present a life. Between feelings resident in the mind and their ultimate expression there is also a gap populated by the present. How the present with its tumult of being can be transcended becomes the folly of the artisan and the artist to be. As we pretend to ourselves that we are in possession of our present, the resident memory within us, that is made by our ancestors through their lineal upbringing props up to instruct differently. We the outcome of their heritage, feel and think differently, yet their prodding of us continues to veer us from what we determined as the chosen path.

Gobbling Moons | Burgundy Thoughts

Luis is no different in that travial than you and I. He feels the passion within him attempting expression, yet he finds the mythological dominating his hand to render him a whale "gobbling" moons in a tumultuous ocean with distant clear horizons. The cruicible of creation being the background and the myth of the lunar eclipse being the subject. To escape that he continues but what is the outcome; fallen dead musical notes making a fertile bed for raising flowers of passion that are connotative to his objects of love. A point of view that is on its own resilient yet dominated by a heritage, by a past of others labors, that cannot be totally dismissed, comprehended or controlled fully. A being of the present with a mind that is entrenched with a past inherited that transfigures his current state. Then in another tableau, he looks at his object of love and sees that he can understand her better by pondering the least respected neither part of her.. Is he thus at her point of origin or at the point of her least concern? Conflict of what one is and one perceives shapes his approach to understand of both his self and others he companions with.
